The Durham District School Board is asking residents in Ajax, Ontario, to help decide how money will be spent during the 2026-2027 school year. The board has scheduled several public meetings starting on April 13, 2026, to discuss its upcoming budget and funding priorities.
These sessions are open to anyone who wants to attend in-person at the Education Centre or watch through a live video stream on the board’s YouTube channel. Community members can sign up to speak directly to the board’s Education Finance Committee during meetings on April 13 and June 2.
To speak at the first meeting, residents must submit their request by noon on April 7, 2026. Those who wish to share their views at the June 2 meeting have until noon on May 27, 2026, to sign up.
Residents can also send written comments to Kristin Talbot, the executive assistant to the associate director of corporate services. The process will begin with an overview of core funding on April 13, followed by a draft budget presentation in May and a final review in June.
The input gathered during these meetings will help guide the board as it makes final funding decisions for the next school year. This annual process ensures that local families have a say in how school operations and programs are managed.
