Residents in Orangeville, Ontario, are dealing with mail delivery delays after a main lock broke on a community mailbox. The problem is affecting people living near Clarke and Buena Vista as of March 18, 2026.
According to the On the Hill in Orangeville! community group, the broken lock has prevented mail from being dropped off in the neighbourhood units. While residents have been discussing the issue online, Canada Post has not yet issued an official service warning for the town.
Community mailboxes are used as central points for delivery in many residential areas. When a lock on one of these large units fails, it stops service for several homes at once because the mail carrier cannot safely open the unit to reach the individual slots.
Local residents are currently looking for information on where they might be able to pick up their mail until the box is fixed. While some community members have heard the repairs could take up to two weeks, the postal service has not confirmed a specific date for when delivery will resume.
