The forecast predicts between 2 and 5 centimetres of snow and ice pellets, along with a risk of freezing rain. These conditions are expected to begin in the early morning and continue until the early afternoon.
Residents should prepare for difficult travel on roads and sidewalks, especially during the morning rush hour. The accumulation of ice and snow may make surfaces slippery, which increases the chance of car accidents or people slipping and falling while walking.
The alert also covers nearby communities including Pickering and Oshawa. The weather is expected to change into regular rain later in the afternoon as temperatures rise.
