The Municipality of the County of Antigonish set up information tables at the local farmers market this past weekend to hear from residents about community issues. These sessions took place in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, and Sunday, March 22, 2026. This outreach gives citizens a direct way to speak with officials about local topics that matter to them.
Representatives were available at the Antigonish Farmers’ Market, located at 20 Exhibition Lane, from 10 AM to 1 PM both days. Warden Nicholas MacInnis and other council members used these events to answer questions and gather suggestions from the public. The weekend’s activities also included Seedy Sunday, a local tradition where residents share gardening seeds to mark the start of the spring season.
A major focus for the municipality right now is a new study to understand the recreation needs of the community. Along with the market tables, officials are hosting eight separate feedback sessions starting tomorrow, March 24, 2026, and running through April 1, 2026. Residents who visited the market were able to learn more about these upcoming meetings and how to participate in a related public survey.
Visitors can also find out about local funding opportunities for community organizations. The municipality recently gave out $455,496 to 45 different groups to help with local projects and services. The deadline to apply for the next round of these community partnership grants is April 1, 2026.
