On March 19, 2026, Mayor Jeff Acker delivered the annual State of the City address in Spruce Grove, Alberta, during an event hosted by the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce to highlight recent community growth and future spending plans.
The address follows the city’s 40th anniversary on March 1, 2026, marking four decades since the community officially became a city. Spruce Grove is currently the fastest growing municipality in the Edmonton area, with the population reaching 44,575 residents in 2025.
To manage this growth, the City Council recently approved a budget that includes a 4.68 per cent tax increase. This money will fund improvements to local bus services, hire more RCMP officers, and support community construction projects.
Residents can also see the results of recent investments like the new brand identity and the Heavy Metal Place recreation centre. Mayor Acker noted that these projects help keep the community strong as it continues to expand.
