The City of Spruce Grove, Alberta, is closing several lanes and a sidewalk on Grove Drive starting Thursday, March 26, 2026, to allow for construction at the new high school. These changes are expected to stay in place for about two weeks while crews work on the site.
Drivers will not be able to use the westbound left-turn lane into the Spruce Grove Composite High School parking lot or the school’s exit onto Grove Drive. The city will also close the eastbound right lane closest to the school, with all areas expected to reopen by the morning of Monday, April 6, 2026.
Pedestrians will need to find a different path as the sidewalk on the south side of Grove Drive will be closed from the bus stop to Woodside Crescent. Because Grove Drive is a main road for the city, residents should plan for extra travel time and consider taking different routes during the project.
This work is part of a $100 million project to replace the school, which was funded by the provincial government to help with high student enrollment. The Parkland School Division has planned this new facility to hold more than 1,900 students as the local population continues to increase.
