A section of the William A. Parish Waterfront Trail in Ajax, Ontario, is currently closed for repairs to fix damage caused by shoreline erosion. The closure affects the path between Audley Road South, Hoile Drive, and Ontoro Boulevard, with work expected to wrap up by June 2026.
The Town of Ajax and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority are working together to manage the lakefront. High water levels and storms from previous years have caused hazardous erosion along the shoreline, making these repairs necessary to keep the path safe for walkers and cyclists.
This work is part of a larger project that began on January 12, 2026, which involves moving large boulders to protect the coast from Frisco Road to Ontoro Boulevard. The 7-kilometre path is a popular recreation spot and forms a key link in the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail and the Trans-Canada Trail.
In October 2024, the trail was renamed to honour former Mayor William A. Parish, who helped ensure the waterfront remained public land for the community. Residents are encouraged to use different routes during the construction period to avoid the work area.
