The British Columbia Hockey League has suspended Spruce Grove Saints goaltender Ryan De Kok for five games following a series of fights during a March 22, 2026, game in Spruce Grove, Alberta. The league officially announced the decision on March 23, 2026, through a post from BCHL_UPDATED.
The discipline stems from a game against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks that ended in a 6-3 win for the Saints. In the final minute of play, a large fight broke out that involved players from both teams and resulted in a total of 156 penalty minutes.
League officials noted that the 20-year-old De Kok received the penalty for fighting the opposing goaltender and for joining a second fight during the same break in play. The opposing goalie from Salmon Arm also received a four-game suspension for his role in the fight.
De Kok is originally from Lethbridge and has played 29 games this season, earning a record of 14 wins and 12 losses. The Saints have been competing in the British Columbia Hockey League since 2024 and play their home games at the Thompson Family Arena.
The suspension means the team will be without De Kok for several home games this week. He is set to miss the upcoming matches on March 27, 2026, against the West Kelowna Warriors and March 28, 2026, against the Cranbrook Bucks.
