The Orangeville Food Bank is moving its community market to a new downtown location at 30 Centre Street in Orangeville, Ontario, following an unexpected closure this week. The Neighbours Community Market, which was previously held at Westminster United Church, shut down on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to prepare for the relaunch at the HART Hub.
The new site will be open from 12 PM to 4 PM and is designed to help the more than 1,500 people who rely on the food bank every month. This move comes as the organization handles a 1,600 percent increase in seniors needing assistance since 2011. Recent data also shows a 78 percent increase in the number of individuals with jobs turning to the food bank for help over a five-month surge.
Since it was founded in 1992, the food bank has grown significantly; it distributed 500,000 pounds of food in 2022 and expected to reach 650,000 pounds the following year. The new location at the Edelbrock Centre puts the market in the same building as other Dufferin County support services. The organization is currently asking for more residents to volunteer to help manage the transition and support the children and women who make up 73 percent of those served.
