Eleven arts organizations in Stratford, Ontario, will receive funding to host more local events and activities from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. This support comes through the Stratford Destination Development Fund, which is a partnership between Regional Tourism Organization 4, the Downtown Stratford BIA, and Destination Stratford.
The fund is entering its 11th year and received a record 30 applications this year from groups looking for more than $200,000 in support. The 11 chosen organizations will receive individual grants between $500 and $10,000 to help run projects that include theatre, film, music, and walking tours. These initiatives are designed to bring more activity to the community, especially during the quieter fall and winter months.
The selected groups include Here For Now Theatre, the Stratford Film Festival, and Stratford Winterfest. Other recipients are Boathouse Stratford, Fresh Idea Collective, INNERchamber Inc, Provocation Ideas Festival, Stratford Concert Choir, Stratford Summer Music, Stratford Walking Tours, and the Stratford Winter Film Festival.
Jamie Pritchard, the General Manager of the Downtown Stratford BIA, says this funding is important for building the local economy and starting new activities during times of economic uncertainty. For residents, this means a busier calendar of free and low-cost cultural events to attend throughout the year.
These projects aim to give people more reasons to visit the downtown area and support local shops and restaurants year-round. Officials noted that the total value of all projects applying for the fund this year reached over $1 million, showing strong interest in growing the city’s cultural scene.
