The Town of Bracebridge, Ontario, is warning drivers that water is sitting over sections of three local roads as the spring melt begins. The safety advisory, which remains in effect as of March 26, 2026, covers parts of Campbell’s Road, Germania Road, and Peterson Road where water has pooled on the driving surface.
According to the Town of Bracebridge, the affected areas include Campbell’s Road between house numbers 1030 and 1088. Water is also present on Germania Road from house number 1405 to 1507, and on Peterson Road between addresses 1056 and 1296. While these roads are still open for now, the town is watching them closely as high temperatures cause snow to melt quickly.
Staff from the Public Works department are currently clearing catch basins and moving snowbanks to help the water drain away. This seasonal flooding is a regular occurrence in the community, especially when a heavy winter snowpack meets warm spring weather. Similar conditions were reported during the spring melt in 2020, 2023, and 2025.
Officials remind residents that no ice on local waterways is safe to walk on right now and that riverbanks can become unstable and collapse without warning. Drivers are told not to try crossing flooded areas, as even a small amount of water can be strong enough to wash a vehicle off the road. Fast-moving water and changing weather can make these road conditions unpredictable.
Local residents who see new flooding or washouts can report them by calling the town at 705-645-5264. The community has seen significant flooding in the past, including a historic state of emergency in 2019 when water levels reached record heights. Crews will continue to monitor the current road conditions until the spring runoff slows down.
