The Brockville Police Service has charged the former chief executive officer of the Brockville Public Library with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust following a long-term investigation into financial misconduct.
Geraldine Slark was charged on March 30, 2026, after investigators alleged she used a corporate credit card for personal expenses totaling more than $21,000 between 2023 and 2024. According to Inspector Darryl Boyd of the Brockville Police Service, the funds were used for personal gain rather than for library purposes, and none of the money has been repaid at this time.
The investigation began in June 2025 after concerns about the library’s finances were first raised during an internal review in December 2024. The City of Bzrockville and the library board conducted a joint internal review, which provided the basis for the police investigation. Those findings were turned over to the police in August 2025.
Following her arrest, Slark was released from custody and is set to appear in court on June 5, 2026. The library continues its normal daily operations under the leadership of Christine Row, who is currently serving as the interim chief executive officer.
