Residents of Ste. Anne, Manitoba, are invited to an open house on April 28, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the creation of a Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP). The event, hosted by the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne, will feature a COPP representative to explain volunteer involvement and community benefits. Separately, the town is also undertaking a community‑led development plan to manage significant local growth.
The town has experienced rapid expansion over the last decade, with its population surging 36.8 percent between 2016 and 2021, growing from 2,114 to 2,891 residents. Mayor Yvan St. Vincent noted that the community has effectively run out of available land to support this continued growth. In response, Manitoba’s municipal board approved a proposal on February 20, 2026, allowing the town to annex land from the surrounding Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne to accommodate new housing and services.
This upcoming planning initiative arrives as the area prepares for major infrastructure projects, including a new regional high school. Following an announcement in the 2025 provincial budget, construction on the school is set to begin in 2027, with an opening target of September 2028. The school, overseen by the Seine River School Division, is expected to be a focal point for the growing community.
The town’s expansion plans involve close coordination with the rural municipality, which covers 476.81 square kilometres and is home to 5,584 residents. The rural municipality, which officially designated itself as a bilingual English-French region in 2024, has worked with town leadership to ensure the annexation supports mutual development goals. Residents interested in learning more about the development plan or providing feedback can find details through the community engagement group.
