Thunderstorms are common on the prairies at this time of year and can bring hail, lightning, high winds, and heavy rain. The province’s severe weather guide notes lightning can strike the ground at about 40,000 kilometres per second.
This forecast follows a period of active weather in southeastern Manitoba. On July 24, 2026, severe thunderstorms brought the risk of large hail, damaging wind gusts over 100 km/h, and tornadoes to the region, including the Ste. Anne area.
Residents planning outdoor activities should keep an eye on the sky Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, but can look forward to ideal summer conditions to close out the week.
