The City of Regina and Regina Fire & Protective Services are giving away five 72-hour emergency survival kits to encourage residents to prepare for unexpected disasters.
The giveaway is running from March 27 to May 9, 2026. To enter, residents must sign up for a new account with notifynow, which is the city’s emergency alert system found at regina.ca/notifynow.
Each emergency kit is valued at approximately $300. The giveaway is split into three parts. Two kits will be awarded to new sign-ups between March 27 and April 19. A grand prize kit, which includes an additional pet first aid kit valued at $60, is available through a social media contest running from March 27 to May 9. Two final kits will be awarded to new sign-ups between May 1 and May 9.
The notifynow system is designed to send real-time alerts to residents about threats such as extreme weather, major fires, evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, service disruptions, boil water advisories, and chemical spills. The program was first launched in 2016 with funding from the Co-op Refinery Complex and was relaunched publicly in March 2025 following several years of testing and internal use. The city currently spends about $40,000 annually to maintain the system.
