The DRPS reports that a 77-year-old man has died following a collision in Ajax on the evening of April 7, 2026. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing Westney Road South near Bramwell Drive at approximately 10:10 p.m.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the man to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. The vehicle involved, a Hyundai sedan, was driven by a 22-year-old woman who remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. She did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
This incident marks the second fatal pedestrian collision in Ajax so far in 2026, following a similar event in January at Kingston Road West and Ritchie Avenue. The Durham Regional Police Service is currently investigating the circumstances of the collision through their Collision Investigation Unit.
