The Brantford Bulldogs opened their second-round playoff series with a commanding 8-1 victory over the North Bay Battalion on April 8, 2026, at the TD Civic Centre. This win gives the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and keeps their perfect 5-0 record intact for the 2026 playoffs.
The Bulldogs dominated early, establishing a 5-0 lead by the end of the first period. Head coach Jay McKee said the performance was the best he has seen during his 11 years coaching in the league. By the end of the night, nine different players had recorded points for Brantford.
Caleb Malhotra and captain Jake O’Brien each scored two goals and added an assist to lead the offense. Defenceman Adam Jiricek also had a significant impact, recording one goal and three assists for a four-point game. Goaltender Ryerson Leenders secured the win for the Bulldogs by making 31 saves against 32 shots.
This strong start follows a regular season where the Bulldogs finished at the top of the overall Ontario Hockey League standings, earning the team the Hamilton Spectator Trophy. The franchise, which relocated to Brantford in 2023, is currently owned by Edmonton Oilers star Zach Hyman.
The series continues with Game 2, which is set for Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Civic Centre. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
