The County of Simcoe Economic Development Office is inviting residents to learn about career paths in the skilled trades at an upcoming fair held at the Robbert Hartog Midland Campus of Georgian College on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
The event, designed to connect job seekers with industry experts, features a dedicated community session from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This portion of the day is free to attend, and no pre-registration is required. Earlier in the day, the campus will host a separate session for local students in grades 9 through 12.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, attendees can participate in three panel discussions focused on career development. Simcoe Muskoka Skillforce will host an Ask the Experts Live podcast, followed by a Blueprint For Success employer panel and a discussion titled Building Your Best Life, which features various trades professionals.
This fair comes as Ontario faces a significant need for new workers. Provincial data indicates that the construction industry alone will require over 100,000 new workers by 2030 to replace retiring professionals and meet infrastructure goals, such as the construction of 1.5 million new homes by 2031.
