Residents in Collingwood should prepare for cold and unsettled weather this week, as temperatures are expected to stay well below seasonal norms during the early part of the week.
According to Environment Canada, Sunday and Monday will bring cloudy skies and a high chance of flurries to the area. Sunday carries a 70 percent chance of flurries, while Monday morning holds a 60 percent chance. Strong winds from the northwest, with gusts reaching 50 km/h on Sunday and 40 km/h on Monday, will cause wind chill values to drop to -9°C. No weather alerts are currently in effect for the region, according to both Environment Canada and The Weather Network.
These early-week temperatures are roughly 10°C colder than historical norms for April, which typically see average highs of 13°C and lows of 1°C. While the work week begins with overnight lows dipping as far as -5°C, conditions are expected to change quickly.
A significant warm-up is expected mid-week as temperatures climb from 7°C on Tuesday to 12°C on Wednesday. By Thursday and Friday, residents can look forward to much milder conditions with highs reaching 17°C.
