The City of Brantford and the Brantford Youth Council are set to host a series of free community events for National Youth Week from May 1 to May 7, 2026. This annual celebration offers a variety of activities for local youth, including a flag raising ceremony, a board game social, a volleyball tournament, cooking classes, a pottery workshop, and an intergenerational story exchange.
The week of festivities will culminate with the fourth annual Brantford Youth Excellence Awards on May 11, 2026. The awards ceremony will take place at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts, a heritage theatre located at 88 Dalhousie St. The event will feature a live performance by the headline act, Superstar Crush.
These initiatives are part of the city’s broader commitment to youth engagement, guided by the 2025-2027 Empowering Youth Strategy. Approved unanimously by City Council in November 2024, the strategy focuses on four main areas: leadership and engagement, access to supports, safety and belonging, and training and employment.
