Residents in Cambridge, Ontario, should prepare for a week of shifting weather as unseasonably warm temperatures give way to rain and cooler conditions. While Monday offers a sunny start to the week, a weather system is expected to bring rain and a risk of thunderstorms starting Monday night and continuing through Wednesday.
According to The Weather Network, Monday will see a high near 19°C. However, clouds will move in later in the day, bringing a 60% chance of showers overnight. The unsettled pattern continues Tuesday, with a 100% chance of rain in the morning and a potential for thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening. Showers are expected to persist into Wednesday as temperatures begin to cool.
By Thursday, a change in air masses will bring clearer skies and significantly cooler weather. Overnight temperatures from Thursday through Saturday are expected to drop near or below freezing, falling between -1°C and 1°C. This marks a sharp contrast to early-week temperatures, which have been running approximately 9°C above the historical April average high of 10.3°C.
The Grand River Conservation Authority reports that there are currently no active flood warnings in effect for the area. Although water levels remain elevated following heavy rainfall earlier this month, the authority continues to monitor local waterways, including the Grand River and the Speed River, through its ongoing surveillance systems.
With temperatures fluctuating throughout the week and the possibility of storms, residents are encouraged to keep rain gear handy and dress in layers. Strong winds, which are impacting much of southern Ontario this week, may also accompany the incoming weather systems.
