The Regina Public Library is inviting applications for its 2026-27 Writer in Residence program, with a deadline of April 30, 2026. This long-standing program provides local writers with access to professional mentorship and guidance from an established author.
The position requires the selected writer to spend at least 16 hours each week engaging with the community. This includes offering manuscript consultations, hosting workshops, and providing personalized feedback on writing projects and publishing processes. The successful applicant will also receive a dedicated office within a library branch to support their work.
The current Writer in Residence, Ev Bishop, is a USA Today bestselling author known for her small-town contemporary romance and fiction novels. Serving from January 19 to June 28, 2026, Bishop holds the distinction of being the first romance writer to serve in this role at the library.
Residents can also take advantage of the library’s annual Writes of Spring series, which continues throughout April 2026. In partnership with the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, this series offers free workshops covering a variety of genres, including poetry, thriller, mystery, horror, and fiction. These sessions are designed to provide expert tips to community members interested in developing their writing craft.
