The Norwood Theatre in Bracebridge is now showing the new Michael Jackson biopic, titled Michael, for residents to view through May 7, 2026. The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, offers a look at the life of the singer from his early days with the Jackson 5 through his 1980s tour.
The biographical film has arrived in theatres following a significant national debut, having earned $97 million domestically and $217 million globally during its opening weekend from April 24 to April 26, 2026. This performance marks the largest opening for a musical biopic to date.
Showtimes at the local cinema are set for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and Fridays and Saturdays. There are also 2:00 p.m. matinee screenings available on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $14 for general tickets for those aged 13 to 64, while tickets for children aged 2 to 12 and seniors aged 65 and older are $12. The theatre operates on a cash-only basis, though an automated teller machine is available on-site for customer convenience.
The Norwood Theatre has served the Muskoka area since opening on July 19, 1949. The venue, which is currently operated by the fifth generation of the Giaschi-Mitchell family, has expanded over the decades from a single screen to its current three-screen layout.
