Bracebridge, Ontario, is in for a seasonably mild fall week, but first Environment Canada is warning of patchy frost early Tuesday morning. A Yellow Advisory for Frost is in effect for the Bracebridge-Gravenhurst area, with temperatures expected to drop to 3°C overnight Monday.
According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for the development of frost, and residents should take preventative measures to protect cold-sensitive plants, trees, and crops. The advisory carries a moderate impact level and high forecast confidence.
Despite the frost risk, the rest of the week looks pleasant for outdoor activities. Monday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 14°C and a UV index of 6, which is considered high. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are forecast to be predominantly sunny, with Thursday seeing a mix of sun and cloud, and highs ranging from 16°C to 21°C, making it an ideal stretch for fall walks or yard work.
At Muskoka Airport on Monday afternoon, conditions were sunny with a temperature of 13.4°C and light winds. The normal high for this time of year is 17°C, with a low of 7°C, so the coming week is right in line with typical late September weather.
The first fall frost in Bracebridge usually arrives around September 12, based on climate normals, so this week’s advisory is a reminder that cooler nights are settling in across the region.
