Residents and visitors who enjoy the trails at Miller Point Peace Park in Dayspring, Nova Scotia, will need to make other plans for Thursday, April 30, 2026. The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg has announced that the park will be closed entirely on that day to allow for ongoing trail construction work.
The closure is a continuation of infrastructure improvements at the site, which is located at 13941 Highway 3. While the entire park will be off-limits on Thursday, access to the inner portions of the park is set to reopen on Friday, May 1, 2026.
This work follows an earlier partial closure in early April, which affected the outer parking lot, cemetery road, and select trails. The current project is part of a larger, phased effort to enhance the park, which features 5 km of walking trails through mature red pines and views of the LaHave River and Horseshoe Cove. The construction contract for these upgrades was awarded following a competitive process in October 2025.
Miller Point Peace Park is overseen by the municipality with guidance from the Miller Point Peace Park Advisory Committee, a group made up of six local residents and the area councillor. Recent additions to the park include an accessible kayak launch installed in the summer of 2025, a project supported by the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism & Heritage and a Communities ACCESS-Ability Grant.
