The Waterloo Regional Police Service is asking for the public’s help following a road safety incident in Cambridge on April 27, 2026, that nearly caused a collision.
At approximately 2:25 p.m., a black 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck was seen travelling south on Lisbon Pines Drive in East Galt while dragging a large piece of concrete attached by a tow strap. The concrete detached from the truck while the vehicle was in motion, forcing the driver of a vehicle following behind to take evasive action to avoid striking the debris.
Investigators with the Traffic Services Unit are specifically looking to identify and speak with the driver of the secondary vehicle who nearly hit the object. Police are also requesting that anyone who was in the area of Lisbon Pines Drive at the time of the incident check their dash camera or surveillance footage for any relevant video.
Under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act, operating a vehicle with an insecure load is a serious matter that can lead to charges, regardless of whether the item actually falls off or simply has the potential to dislodge. This applies to both commercial and non-commercial vehicles.
