The third annual Pizza Wars is underway in Niverville, Manitoba, inviting residents to taste-test six unique creations while supporting local restaurants from May 1 to May 8, 2026. Hosted by the Niverville Chamber of Commerce, the friendly competition features four local pizzerias vying for the titles of best overall and most creative pizza.
The event coincides with the community garage sale weekend on May 1 and May 2, offering shoppers an opportunity to stop for a bite at participating locations. Diners can cast their votes for their favorite pies by scanning quick response codes located at each participating restaurant.
Four local eateries are showcasing their culinary skills this year. Santa Lucia Pizza has entered the Funky Chicken, a thin-crust pizza topped with alfredo sauce, chicken, mushrooms, parmesan, and bacon. Papa Peppie’s Pizza, located inside Country Snacks Ltd, is presenting Rosa’s Rise-n-Shine, a breakfast-style creation featuring an egg base, bacon, ham, peppers, onion, mozzarella, cheddar, and garlic aioli.
Niakwa Pizza and Pho Real! Niverville have introduced two entries: Pho Get About It!, featuring peanut sauce, Vietnamese meatballs, flank steak, hoisin sauce, and sriracha, and The Turnbull. The latter was inspired by the Niverville Nighthawks, who secured the championship cup on April 23, 2026. Pizza Pizza and Flavors of India round out the competition with the Volcano Dipper and a butter chicken pizza.
According to Executive Director Bre-Ann Boulet, the event serves as a way to celebrate and showcase local dining options. Residents are encouraged to visit the participating businesses throughout the week to sample the entries and participate in the community vote.
