City crews are beginning work on 18 infrastructure projects across Leduc this year, focusing on road improvements, utility upgrades, and new public spaces to support the community. The projects are part of a $40.1 million capital budget approved by Leduc City Council.
The 2026 work includes road paving projects on streets such as Sparrow Drive, 50 Street, 65 Avenue, and Discovery Way, along with the construction of a new roundabout on 74 Street. Beyond road work, the city is continuing the construction of Fire Hall 3 on the east side of the city, which began in 2025 and is expected to be finished by the fall of 2026. Other improvements include a new, accessible outlook at Lions Park on Telford Lake, upgrades to the Deer Valley Dog Park, and ongoing work on stormwater and watermain systems.
Mayor Lars Hansen described the initiative as a way to prioritize the city’s $1.5 billion in existing critical infrastructure while preparing for future growth. He noted that these projects represent smart investments designed to enhance safety, reliability, and long-term community development.
The funding for these projects was part of the 2026 budget process finalized on December 8, 2025, when council approved a 3.8% property tax increase to support city services and capital projects. Residents can find full project details and timelines on the city website. While construction is underway, the city advises motorists to expect potential impacts along affected routes and encourages residents to continue supporting local businesses in those areas.
