The Durham Employment & Newcomer Centre is hosting its 3rd Annual Spring Into Success Durham Job Fair on May 26, 2026, to help connect local job seekers with employers across the region. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex in Pickering.
This year’s job fair comes at a critical time for the local labour market. Recent data shows that the unemployment rate in Oshawa has reached 8.6 percent, a figure that sits above the provincial average of 7.3 percent. This shift follows significant layoffs at the local General Motors plant earlier this year, which saw up to 1,200 autoworkers lose their positions starting January 31, 2026.
The job fair is free to attend, though organizers note that registration is required as space is limited. The event is made possible with support from the City of Pickering. The organization leading the effort, which has provided services to residents in Oshawa and Pickering for over 40 years, helps support more than 25,000 visitors annually through its various programs.
