Road reconstruction on St. George Road and Main Street North in the County of Brant began on Monday, May 4, 2026, with work expected to continue through September 2026. The project focuses on a 400-metre stretch of the road starting from the intersection of Mansfield Drive and Highgate Drive.
The construction includes the installation of new watermains and sanitary mains, as well as road repaving with hot mix asphalt. Crews will also build a multi-use path as part of the project. This work is intended to support essential infrastructure in the community, which has been identified as a primary area for future housing development.
Drivers should expect alternating lane closures throughout the construction period, though the county notes that one lane will remain open to traffic at all times and no detour is required. Access to Mansfield Drive and Highgate Drive will also be maintained. Residents should anticipate typical construction noise and potential delays between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on weekdays.
