The Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Society is rolling out new programming for children and families as part of the 2026 season at the Market at the Elevator. Located at 120 Railway Ave. in Spruce Grove, Alberta, the society is focusing on new educational initiatives to draw younger community members to the historic site.
The market officially began its 2026 season on May 2 and operates every Saturday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Plans for the current year include a children’s community garden and expanded programming centered on agricultural education and accessibility. These efforts are part of a broader strategic plan to revitalize the organization, which was formed in 1972 to support rural infrastructure.
Nicola Eddy, a board director with the society, noted that the organization is working to address an aging membership base by finding new ways to engage the community. Fundraising remains a critical part of these efforts, allowing the society to host more workshops and events for local families.
To support these new initiatives, the society hosted a Spring Carnival throughout April at the grain elevator site. The organization continues to rely on community support and various grant opportunities to maintain the heritage site and expand its public offerings.
