Homeowners in Ajax will continue to see a stormwater charge on their final tax bills in 2026, despite recent changes to the town’s budget. The Town of Ajax confirms that the fee remains in effect, with a notice currently posted on its property tax webpage to remind residents that the charge will appear on this year’s bill.
According to the 2026 Operating Budget, each residential unit will be charged $52.90. This reflects an increase from the $50.90 fee charged in 2025 and the $48 fee established when the program began in 2023. The fee is governed by By-law 24-2025 and is adjusted every year based on the Municipal Price Index.
While the town has moved forward with the collection of this fee, which is projected to generate $3,671,300 in revenue for 2026, other related financial plans have changed. During recent budget discussions, Mayor Shaun Collier used his authority to remove 44 planned projects, which included certain stormwater management funds, as the town addressed a reduction in revenue from the local casino.
Residents with questions regarding the fee or the broader stormwater program can find more information on the town’s website at ajax.ca/stormwater.
