The City of Pitt Meadows is beginning a series of water infrastructure upgrades across the community as part of its 2026 capital works program. These projects, which aim to replace aging asbestos-cement water mains and local service connections, are expected to take place at four main locations between May and October 2026.
Work is currently beginning on 188 Street and is expected to continue through July 13. Similar improvements are also underway on 119B, 189B, 190, and 120B Avenue, with that work also running until July 13. Later this summer, the Engineering and Operations Department will shift operations to Harris Road, where construction is set for July 20 through October 26, followed by upgrades on Advent Road from September 7 to October 26.
These infrastructure projects are part of a larger investment plan approved by the Pitt Meadows City Council. The city’s total capital expenditures for 2026 are set at $21.1 million, with $5,296,000 specifically allocated to the engineering division to support these types of essential upgrades.
Residents living in the immediate vicinity of the work sites can expect to receive direct notifications from contractors before any construction activity begins on their street. The city notes that these timelines are estimates and are subject to change based on weather conditions.
Drivers should prepare for potential traffic delays in these areas throughout the summer and fall. The city asks that all residents remain mindful of their surroundings and obey traffic control personnel and posted signage at all times.
