Residents of Whitchurch-Stouffville can look forward to a significant warming trend this weekend, as sunny skies and temperatures climbing well into the 20s arrive just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend.
According to Environment Canada, the upcoming weather marks a welcome change from the cool, showery conditions that have persisted early this week. While Wednesday and Thursday brought cloudy skies and highs between 12°C and 14°C, conditions are expected to clear by Friday, May 15, with a forecast high of 21°C.
The warming trend is set to continue through the weekend. Sunny conditions are anticipated for Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, with daily high temperatures expected to reach 25°C and 26°C respectively. There are currently no weather alerts in effect for the area.
The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville holds various spring programming, including Victoria Day Fireworks on Friday evening and Doors Open events later in the season, which will benefit from the shift to milder weather. Residents planning to travel for the long weekend should note that ongoing roadwork on Highway 404 is scheduled to conclude by 5 a.m. on Friday, May 15, according to York Region.
