Residents in Kingston, Ontario are invited to help shape the city’s future at the upcoming Kingston Climate Summit, a two-day event taking place on June 3 and 4, 2026, at St. Lawrence College. The summit, which has expanded from the inaugural event held in 2025, aims to bring community members, experts, and local leaders together to discuss climate issues and identify local solutions.
The event is presented by ICLEI Canada, the City of Kingston, and Sustainable Kingston. Julie Salter-Keane, the city’s manager of climate leadership, noted that the summit is designed to turn climate strategy into tangible community action. This work aligns with the city’s ongoing efforts to reach carbon neutrality by 2040, a goal established following Kingston’s unanimous 2019 decision to become the first municipality in Ontario to declare a climate emergency.
A highlight of this year’s program will be a keynote address by Canadian astronaut and physician Dr. Dave Williams. His presentation, titled Space on Earth – A Sustainable Future, is set for the evening of June 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and explores how a problem-solving approach can be applied to climate challenges.
Registration for the summit is now open. Corporate tickets are available for $50 plus tax, while student and community member tickets are $35 plus tax. To ensure the event remains accessible, a limited number of free tickets are available for those facing financial barriers; those interested in these spots are encouraged to contact Sustainable Kingston directly.
