The North Salt Spring Waterworks District has published its May 2026 newsletter, keeping its more than 5,500 customers up to date on billing, conservation measures, and office operations.
The newsletter, which became available on May 15, 2026, includes important information regarding the latest water toll billing period. Customers are reminded that bills for March and April 2026 were sent out on May 15, and payments are due by June 19, 2026.
In addition to billing information, the district continues to operate under Stage 2 water conservation restrictions, which have been in effect since May 1, 2026. These measures apply to all customers served by the utility on Salt Spring Island.
The district office, which was closed for the Victoria Day holiday on Monday, May 18, 2026, reopened for regular business on May 19, 2026. Residents wishing to review the full newsletter can access it through the district website or by contacting the office directly.
The utility is managed by a board of trustees, currently consisting of Chair Brian Pyper, David Courtney, Philippe Erdmer, Sandra Ungerson, and Steve Lam. Established in 1913 as the Ganges Power and Water utility and later incorporated as an improvement district in 1948, the organization is currently working on infrastructure projects, including the Maxwell Lake water treatment plant, which received approval from 74.3 per cent of ratepayers in May 2025.
