The Town of Ajax is launching a new pilot project this summer, introducing a beer garden pop-up at Paradise Park near the local waterfront. Residents can expect the new venue to open its doors on July 1, 2026, offering both food and beverage service to the community.
This initiative follows a directive from the Ajax Town Council, which asked staff to explore potential projects for serving alcohol in public spaces. The town previously conducted a public survey in January 2026 to gather feedback on how to manage liquor service at municipal locations and events, as part of a review of its Municipal Alcohol Policy.
The town has selected Town Brewery, based in Whitby, to operate the site. The brewery brings experience from its own waterfront pop-up, known as The Pump House, which began operations in 2023. While the brewery is currently moving its main operations to downtown Whitby, this pilot marks its expansion into Ajax.
Located at 2997 Lakeview Boulevard, the beer garden will operate within a fenced and clearly marked area where alcohol consumption is permitted. The site is designed to be family-friendly, with non-alcoholic drink options available. The town has confirmed that the setup will include portable washrooms, waste management, and a dedicated security plan.
Before the venue can open, the operator must obtain a liquor sales licence from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. As part of this provincial process, there is a public notice period that allows community members to review the application and provide feedback.
