The Town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, is looking for residents to fill volunteer spots on three committees that help guide local decisions on arts, recreation, and heritage. Applications close in late May 2026.
The Arts, Culture & Museums Advisory Committee is a new group that will advise Council on programs involving arts, culture, and museums. Its priorities include equity, inclusion, and decolonization. The committee will have seats for a youth representative, a Mi’kmaq community representative, and a member from the Friends of the DesBrisay Museum Society.
The Heritage Advisory Committee guides Council on heritage property designations and requests to alter or tear down heritage buildings. It has between five and seven members, most of whom must live or own property in Bridgewater.
The Parks, Recreation & Active Transportation Advisory Committee focuses on recreation and active living. It has 10 members, including one Council member, eight adult residents, and one student. Two seats are currently open, and Deputy Mayor Jennifer McDonald is the Council representative.
Anyone interested can apply online at bridgewater.ca/apply-to-serve. The town says it is committed to diversity and encourages all residents to put their names forward.
