Pembroke drivers face several road closures this week as the city’s construction season hits its stride. As of Tuesday, both Nelson Street and Howard Street are shut between Belmont Street and Pembroke Street East until Friday evening, while Melton Street will close Thursday for repairs.
The City of Pembroke says the Nelson and Howard closure started May 26 and runs daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through May 29. Emergency vehicles and local traffic can still get through, but detour signs are posted for everyone else. The work is part of routine road construction.
On Thursday, May 28, Melton Street will close from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. between Angus Campbell Drive and O’Brien Street for infrastructure repairs. That’s according to a city notice posted online.
Meanwhile, bridge repairs on Paul Martin Drive continue until June 19. The span is down to one lane between the city limits and the Boundary Road/Mud Lake Road intersection, with a reduced 40 km/h speed limit. Motorists should expect delays.
