Crews are starting to lay fresh asphalt and repair sidewalks this week on roads across Cochrane, Ontario, a seasonal push that will see selected streets torn up for pulverizing and paving through early July. The Town of Cochrane says the sections being worked on were chosen after inspections, some in preparation for other planned projects, with concrete curb and sidewalk repairs also coming to a handful of areas.
The biggest inconvenience for a small number of property owners will come if fresh concrete gets poured directly in front of their driveway. In those cases, the driveway will be off limits for three to four days while the concrete cures. Everyone else in the construction zone should still be able to get in and out, the Town says, and even areas that face temporary road closures will stay open to fire trucks, ambulances, and police.
The project began May 28, 2026, and is expected to wrap up by July 3, 2026, though the Town notes weather or unexpected conditions could shift that timeline. Properties impacted by the work will be restored at the discretion of the Manager of Infrastructure Services.
Anyone with questions or concerns can reach the Infrastructure Services Department at (705) 272-5086. The Town is also sharing updates through municipal511.ca and its @CochraneOntario accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
The paving is part of Cochrane’s 2026 capital budget, formally adopted by town council on April 14, 2026, which funds infrastructure improvements including utilities, roads, and recreation spaces across the municipality.
