The Pembroke Business Improvement Area is looking for an Event Planner and Downtown Promotions Coordinator to help run a packed summer schedule, with applications open until June 10, 2026. Funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, the temporary full-time role pays $18 an hour for 35 hours a week and starts on June 23, 2026.
The timing of the eight-week job lines up with PBIA’s 50th anniversary year, meaning the new hire will jump right into planning and promoting milestone events. The coordinator will also support regular summer favourites, like the weekly Pembroke Night Market that runs Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. through June, July, and August, and the Community Art Walk.
To apply, candidates must meet Canada Summer Jobs rules. That means being between 15 and 30 years old and either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection. A valid Social Insurance Number and legal right to work in Canada are also required. International students do not qualify.
The job comes as PBIA marks five decades of work in the downtown core, which stretches from Christie Street to MacKay Street and Renfrew Street to the Ottawa River. The group’s office is at 130 Pembroke Street West inside the Phoenix Centre.
Interested residents can find the application details on the PBIA job posting. The deadline is June 10, 2026.
