A sold-out community run in Regina brought people together on Saturday morning to move for mental wellness, raising more than $5,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association’s local branch.

The Run/Walk/Ruck for Mental Wellness event happened June 6, 2026, at the Canada Games Athletic Complex. The fifth annual event offered 5K, 15K, and 21.1K distances for running, walking, or rucking.

All in-person spots were filled, but people can still take part virtually from June 7 to July 5. As of the event date, about CA$5,108.29 had been raised for the CMHA Regina Branch.

The CMHA’s 2024 report shows Saskatchewan has Canada’s highest rates of mood disorders at 15.6 per cent and anxiety disorders at 15.4 per cent. Only 48 per cent of Saskatchewan youth with early mental health needs access community services, compared to 61 per cent nationally.

Presented by local business Sticks and Doodles and sponsored by Run Regina and GMS Queen City Marathon, the event gave each participant a locally designed technical shirt and finisher’s medal. The race ran rain or shine, with package pickup held the evening before at Sticks and Doodles and on race morning at the complex.

Money raised supports CMHA Regina’s work, including social and recreational programs, peer support, advocacy, and vocational help. The branch is also running a campaign for a new mental health hub to give vulnerable people one clear place to turn for support.
