Anyone heading to Canada Day celebrations in Leduc this July 1 should plan for extra time finding a spot to park, as the City of Leduc warns the east lot at the Leduc Recreation Centre will have limited space. The city has released details for the all-day event, confirming that while the east lot is available, the main concert stage is shifting to the west parking lot to work around road construction on the facility’s east side. The main floor walkway inside the centre will stay open all day so people can get between parking areas.
The city’s event page notes the Leduc Recreation Centre at 4330 Black Gold Drive has roughly 800 stalls, plus overflow parking in William F. Lede Park just to the north. Organizers are asking residents to check another lot or the overflow area if the first one is full.
The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Grain Elevator, followed by family activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also at 10 a.m., a car show rolls onto Main Street and a Toonie Swim gets going at Alexandra Outdoor Pool until 8 p.m. The Rotary Summer Splash runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the spray park.
The outdoor concert in the west lot opens its doors at 5 p.m. Nova Scotia hip-hop artist Classified headlines the show, with fiddlers The East Pointers opening. The night wraps up with a fireworks display at 11 p.m., launched from Telford Lake and best viewed from William F. Lede Park.
The celebration is presented by AMRIK, with KTP Mechanical sponsoring the Classified concert and Canadian Tire Leduc backing the fireworks.
