Grimsby, Ontario – A 23-year-old Brampton man has been charged in connection with a violent home invasion that left a Grimsby resident with minor injuries last month. Niagara Regional Police say Jahsyah Thomas was arrested on June 4, 2026, following a month-long investigation.
Police responded to a Grimsby home around 3:30 a.m. on May 1 after reports of a break-in. Officers found that the victim had been assaulted and suffered minor injuries, but the suspects had already fled in a vehicle before police arrived.
The Niagara Regional Police Service says its 8 District Criminal Investigative Branch took over the case and eventually identified Thomas as a suspect. He was arrested with help from the Peel Regional Police Tactical and Rescue Unit.
Thomas faces seven charges, including robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, break and enter commit, possession of a weapon, disguise with intent, and uttering threats. He remained in custody and attended a bail hearing on June 4 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
Police have not released details about what may have been stolen or whether any other suspects are being sought. The arrest highlights cooperation between police services in Niagara and Peel Region to address violent crime crossing municipal borders.
