A 25-year-old Brantford man is facing charges after a stabbing Friday afternoon at Chatham Street and Queen Street in Brantford, Ontario. Police say the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
The Brantford Police Service says officers responded to a report of an altercation between two men at about 2:12 p.m. on June 5, 2026. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
The suspect is now in custody and is being held for bail, facing three charges: assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a judicial release, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Police say the two men knew each other and the incident was isolated, so there is no wider safety concern.
The arrest happened just north of the downtown core — an area Police Chief Jason Saunders has identified as a focus for enhanced policing in 2026. Saunders told city councillors that priorities include “enhancing front-line policing services to improve proactive initiatives and visibility in our neighbourhoods with a focus on the downtown core.”
