Carstairs, Alberta, residents can once again look forward to a fireworks display this Canada Day at the Carstairs Community Golf Course. The Town of Carstairs has confirmed the July 1, 2026, event will go ahead as planned, with the show starting around dusk. Organizers are offering several viewing options, from parking at the golf course or across Highway 2A to simply watching from home.
The Town of Carstairs Community Services Department is coordinating the display as part of a full day of annual celebrations. In previous years, daytime activities at Memorial Park have included games, crafts, a bike parade, and an outdoor market. The fireworks remain the centrepiece, drawing families from across the region.
This year’s event takes on added significance because of a Fire Restriction in place in the surrounding Mountain View County since May 19, 2026. The Town of Carstairs has clarified that the county fire restriction does not apply within town limits, meaning the display can proceed safely. The local fire department, led by Fire Chief Jordan Schaffer, oversees all fireworks permits under the Town’s bylaw to ensure public safety.
Residents can park at the Carstairs Community Golf Course or in the open field across Highway 2A. The golf course, an 18-hole championship facility, also houses the Ironwood Restaurant & Patio for anyone wanting a meal before the show. Those who prefer to avoid the crowds can simply watch the fireworks from their own yards, as visibility is good throughout the community.
