A 27-year-old Kitchener man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a BMW Tuesday night at a busy intersection in Uptown Waterloo.

Waterloo Regional Police say the man was walking at King Street North and Princess Street West around 11:20 p.m. on June 16 when he was struck by a BMW driven by a 35-year-old Waterloo man. The driver was not hurt.

Police closed the intersection for several hours while they investigated. They say charges are expected against the driver.

This is the second serious crash involving a pedestrian in Waterloo this month. On June 3, a 23-year-old Waterloo woman died after being hit at University Avenue East and Marsland Drive.

Police are asking anyone who saw the crash or has dash camera video to call them at 519-570-9777, extension 8856. Tips can also be left anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.waterloocrimestoppers.com.
