Spruce Grove City Council approved a new four-year roadmap for the city on June 22, 2026, setting out priorities meant to guide growth and community services through 2029. The 2026-2029 Strategic Plan was shaped by input from residents during the 2025 municipal election and a public survey in the spring that drew 180 responses.
The plan is organized under four themes: Building Community, Communications Excellence, Economic Opportunity, and Strategic Partnerships. Among the concrete commitments is a new outdoor aquatics facility, with a target to finish construction by 2029. A long-term Transit Strategy is to be developed by 2027, building on recent on-demand service expansions that added Sunday rides and extra peak-hour buses in February 2026.
A Community Safety Strategy, expected by 2028, will focus on education, prevention, intervention, and enforcement. The plan also calls for encouraging more serviced industrial land to help create local jobs and strengthen the tax base, aiming to balance residential development with economic opportunity.
Mayor Jeff Acker said the plan reflects what residents have asked for. “Spruce Grove is a place I am incredibly proud to call home, and this plan reflects everything that makes it special,” Acker said in a statement. “Building connected neighbourhoods, growing our local economy, communicating openly with residents, and strengthening the partnerships that help us thrive: these are the priorities that will carry our community forward.”
