The Town of Ste. Anne is looking for a new recycling pickup and processing company. On June 25, 2026, the town posted a request for proposals (RFP 03-2026) to take over curbside recycling collection for homes, businesses, and light industrial properties starting January 1, 2027.
Residents currently put out their blue bins every Tuesday under a service provided by Emterra Environmental. The winning bidder will sign a contract lasting at least three years, with an option to extend for another two. Finance Officer Brandon Darker is handling submissions, which are due July 31, 2026, at noon CST.
The town moved to weekly recycling collection in 2026, and the new agreement will take effect as Manitoba shifts toward full extended producer responsibility, where companies that make packaging and paper products would cover the entire cost of recycling programs. For now, Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba reimburses towns for up to 80 percent of net costs, and the successful firm will need to work with that agency.
Any changes under the new provider, like adjustments to sorting rules or pickup days, would be announced closer to 2027. The town says all proposals must include two paper copies and one PDF on a USB stick, with prices listed including PST but not GST. Ste. Anne can turn down any bid if it does not fit what the community needs.
