Pembroke families can now register for summer swimming lessons at the Kinsmen Pool, with sign-ups open as of June 22 at 9 a.m. both online and in person. The City of Pembroke is offering four two-week sessions running from June 29 through August 19, 2026, at the pool located at 424 Herbert Street.
Lessons are available for all ages, starting with Parent and Tot classes for infants as young as four months, up to advanced certifications for swimmers 12 and older. The program follows the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life curriculum, covering Preschool, Swimmer levels, Swim Patrol, Bronze awards, and National Lifeguard courses. Private lessons are also an option.
Adults can join Aquabics, a medium-intensity workout offered most Tuesdays and Thursdays, or the Ladies Red Cross program held Monday and Friday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m.
Fees range from $59.54 for a 15-minute private lesson to $65.05 for Parent and Tot classes and Swimmer levels 1-2. Non-resident rates add between $46.44 and $59.33 depending on the program. Financial help is available for those who qualify through Jumpstart and KidSport.
Those registering online must use a credit card, as debit and Visa Debit Cards are not accepted. Anyone wanting to pay with debit can sign up in person at the Kinsmen Pool.
The pool reopened in January 2025 after a year-long closure for major roof repairs, a project that cost about $1.4 million funded by the city, the Township of Laurentian Valley, and community fundraising.
